Dr. Louie has extensive experience in designing and developing human-computer and human-machine interfaces for robot applications including autonomous vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles for emergency response, intelligent service robots for healthcare, and manufacturing. These interfaces utilize immersive technologies ranging from 2D computer interfaces, VR, AR, and simulated cockpits. He has been working extensively with behavioral cloning and learning from demonstration techniques to enable humans to teach robots new tasks from their demonstrations. His expertise is in human-machine interfaces, general robot learning, perception, control, and human-robot interactions.
