Lorenzo Valdevit
Professor of Materials Science and Engineering
Dr. Valdevit is a professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at UC Irvine, where he directs the Institute for Design and Manufacturing Innovation (IDMI), a hub aimed at promoting and sustaining advanced manufacturing activities at UCI, in research, education and outreach (http://manufacturing.uci.edu); IDMI’s core areas of expertise are in additive manufacturing and advanced metal processing. Valdevit is an expert in optimal design, additive manufacturing, and characterization of mechanical metamaterials, including multi-stable shape-reconfigurable architected materials for energy absorption and vibration damping. He is a fellow of ASME.
