Chengzhi Shi
Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering
Dr. Chengzhi Shi s an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the U-M. He received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. Shi is recognized for his research in the emerging fields of acoustic metamaterials, physical acoustics, and wave propagation. He has published 36 peer-reviewed articles in high-impact journals, including Science, Nature Communications, and PNAS. He has given 28 invited conference talks and invited seminars. He is an elected senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the elected co-chair and chair of the 2026 and 2028 Gordon Research Conferences on In Vivo Ultrasound Imaging, respectively. He has received several awards for his research and scholarly achievements, including the NSF CAREER Award and the Office of Naval Research (ONR) Young Investigator Program (YIP) Award.
