Cameron Aubin

Cameron Aubin

Assistant Professor, Robotics

Cameron Aubin is an Assistant Professor in the Robotics Department at the University of Michigan, where he oversees the Zoetic Robotics Laboratory. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 2023. His research group’s interdisciplinary work centers on improving the endurance, adaptability, and autonomy of robots through the integration of multifunctional energy-material systems. He has conducted work across the fields of soft robotics, microrobotics, chemical and combustion-powered systems, and advanced materials and manufacturing. His work has been published in a number of reputable journals, including Nature and Science, and his research has been featured in several popular media outlets, including CNN, PBS, BBC, Wired, Veritasium, and more. His group’s accolades include a Best Paper Award in Benchmarking and Reproducibility and a Best Student Paper Finalist Award at IEEE RoboSoft 2025.
