The objective of this proposal is to pursue the development of packaging optimization methodologies for the configuration design of vehicles considering thermal issues as an example for the treatment of complex configuration problems. The research will be based on previous developments in coordination of decomposition-based optimal system design and geometry representation in design optimization problems. It will superimpose as a two level approach the thermal problem on top of the dynamics, maintainability and survivability issues. The end result is a software that enables users to take CAD data and place it within some irregular boundary.
