Dr. Matt Castanier is a Research Mechanical Engineer in the Analytics group at the US Army Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC). His main technical area is structural dynamics modeling and simulation with a focus on applications to ground vehicles. Dr. Castanier also works with collaborators in government, academia, and industry on a variety of other research topics, including electro-thermal modeling of batteries, reduced-order modeling of structures subject to high-energy events, and design optimization. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan (UM) in 1995. From 1996 through 2008 he was a member of the research faculty at UM. He joined TARDEC in September 2008 and was promoted to his current position in July 2011. Dr. Castanier has published more than 40 articles in archival journals and over 80 papers in conference proceedings.
